The thing about the future is, it’s gonna happen.

Supposedly, Bill Gates once said, “Who in their right mind would ever need more than 640k of ram?”

I imagine if you asked him, he would say he was merely referring to the requirements of the available software and hardware of the time, not prophesying. Regardless, it serves to illustrate a point when it comes to predicting the future: as William Goldman said of Hollywood, “Nobody knows anything.”

Why is this important? There’s a simple pip of certainty in that apple of doubt. What matters is not whether you know what the future holds, but whether you are prepared for it.

The beautiful thing about tomorrow is that it’s going to happen regardless of your or my opinion, and neither of us can foretell its events. But we know what we do today will have some effect on it, and those of us who take action to put ourselves in better positions than yesterday will find we greet the bracing air of the new day with our heads held high and our feet pointed in the right direction.

Whether learning new skills or upgrading ones you currently have, if you’re looking to the future in these uncertain economic times, some form of training is a very good bet. Visit your local Academy of Learning campus to find out more about what your future can hold in store for you.
